How It Started
A studio born
from a blank canvas.
Self Expressions started with a simple frustration: most people want to make art, but feel like they need permission. Classes felt intimidating. Supplies were expensive. And nowhere felt quite right for a fun night out that wasn't a bar.
So in 2025, founder Dede Housman converted a warehouse space into something different — a studio where the coffee is as good as the studio experience, where beginners are celebrated, and where the goal isn't a perfect painting but to connect and express yourself. It's a great time.
Self Expressions hosts many different experiences from acrylic pours to resin art to macrame and crocheting. Every session ends the same way: with something made by you and the way you express yourself.

Founder & Lead Artist
Dede Housman
A self-taught painter turned studio owner, Dede started Self Expressions after realizing that most people just needed permission to create. She leads our signature acrylic and mixed-media workshops.
Ceramics & Sculpture Instructor
Daniel Park
With a BFA in ceramics and a decade of teaching, Daniel makes the pottery wheel feel approachable for everyone. His Sunday sessions are consistently our most-booked.
Watercolor & Drawing Instructor
Simone Adler
Simone brings a background in botanical illustration and a gift for patient, encouraging instruction. Her watercolor workshops sell out weeks in advance.
